Love him or hate him, would you like to fully understand Trump with one simple word? Disrespect Disrespect is what both won and lost this election. Think back to the name calling, Crooked Hillary, Lying Ted and so on. Disrespect the opponents and picking them off one by one. Disrespect all opponents and never accept disrespect. Lash out, cry foul, blame others but never ever accept the disrespect as that is the weapon and weakness. The underlying premise is that regardless of whether he lies, cheats or steals, a large percentage of people will not vote for someone who has been publicly disrespected to be a leader. The whole birther thing, an attempt to disrespect Obama. His current cries to discredit losing the popular vote, is to find off acknowledging the disrespect of losing at anything. Look at Obama who against all odds won two terms, yet he stood proud upon the opposite stance and held infallible respect. He demanded respect and never stepped off that platform. And Hillary? Well, when it really came down to it, like it or not public perception is that she allowed herself to be disrespected by her husband and came back with a powerful response to the disrespect Trump constantly shoveled her way. She never was able to definitively disrespect Trump. And if she will allow someone to disrespect her, many people wonder how can we trust the country to her? Bernie continues to carry and demand respect. Even through the DNC crisis, he somehow never was seen as weak or being pushed around. Knowing this you know Trump's weakness. Hamilton the play found it, Pence accepted it yet Trump saw it and fights it tooth and nail. For actors to lecture him he sees as disrespect. If you want to stop Trump the key is to immerse him in disrespect in the eyes of the world. Those that overlooked all his flaws will not overlook a a Trump failing to find off disrespect. Oh, and all those politicians he disrespected in the public eye? They are now owned by Trump, and forever his dispensable minions.. Now that you have read this, see if this rings true.

“Anyone’s personal view isn’t what matters; you are serving the president of the United States and implementing his views,” Spicer said. “Everybody who serves in the Trump administration will serve Donald Trump and Mike Pence, and they will implement that vision and their ideas and no one else’s.” Good thing this does not sound like stance of a dictatorship. Coming from Trump's spokesman.

So the initial shock and disgust of facing the election results is slowly fading into accepting what I already knew about human nature. And not unlike nature nature, Trump is reminiscent of an invasive species like kudzu for which our political system has not yet developed a defence mechanism. Personally to help me sleep and do my part, I have arranged monthly donations to the ACLU to help fend off Trump's stated attacks on civil liberties as well as other organizations that he states his policies intend to undermine. I have always posted about the things I am interested in and care about. I share what's important to me and what I believe is important for people to know. If people are interested, cool, if not, that's cool too If you believe I have an ability to analyze and deduce clear perspectives, thank you. I apply the same tools to audio as I apply to everything else I post about. Right now, personally I can't sleep, I am sad, disappointed and truly upset. I honestly feel that people have made a terrible and tragic mistake empowering a man that radiates a stench of all things I despise. It is very hard for me to generous when our country has voted for greed. What I really want is for everyone that cares to do something to make the world a better place. What I want is for everyone that follows my feed to be a person that cares.

So to start, let's look at the question I posed last post about choosing between a single mic or 2 mics and a Y cable when acquiring sound from 2 spaced sources. To unravel this let's make and a list of things we expect to occur. Using one mic: Farther from both the sources No interference from two mics Less proximity effect… [ 817 more words ] http://ratsound.com/daveswordpress/2016/11/05/mics-and-bikes/

Some candidate things I think are important to consider: Listen to the words and positions of the candidates over time and look for patterns, consistency and alignment with actions. Do they do what they say they will do? If so, are they saying things we agree with? Are they saying things we don't agree with? Are they saying one thing and doing another? Or changing constantly and cannot be trusted? Are they willing to admit mistakes and refine their positions as things change? Do they work well with others? Are they willing to find middle ground in difficult situations for the common good? Are they focused on the betterment of us or of just themself? How much do we know about them, their decisions and process of making them? Do they act unilaterally or seek knowledgeable council before deciding? Who is against them and why? Who supports them and why? A great leader cares about others more than their own self. Has the candidate shown to a be caring and compassionate yet firm and focused. How do they deal with losing? Are they gracious in tough times like we want our sports teams to be (except tennis) or do they have a temper tantrum and seek irrational vengeance even if it hurts the people supporting them? Are they a person of integrity? Do they pay their bills? Do they accept responsibility for mistakes or try and blame others? Do they treat other with respect, even if they don't like them or their positions? Just as most of us are doing right here on this FB feed. Or do they start name calling and insulting like the few people I have unfriended? Will they listen to reason and logic? Can they understand complex issues that may have dire results if missteps are taken? Do they listen carefully and intently to get the whole story before responding? Do they learn from mistakes or live in an illusion that they are above error? The answers to these questions reveals many of the aspects I look for or avoid in a leader, an employee, a friend and highlights what I personally strive for, for president I look to see whom will offer the highest probability of a desirable future for me, you, our families and all of us in this country and the world. Try asking these questions about Obama, Trump, Bush Hillary, or any political leader, try Kim Jong-un, and see who most closely parallels, try Sadam Huessien or Hitler. Look for parallels between past and present great and horrific leaders versus what is on our table right now to determine which choice is more likely to have a positive result or horrible tragedy. And regardless of whom you vote for, be willing to live with any outcomes you supported.

Words & actions are harmonious with credible humans. If Trump does as he says, he's a racist molesting asshole, if he doesn't then he's a non credible liar. Vote for what you believe in, and if it means you must stand up and say " I want a racist asshole to lead our country that denies climate change with a history of not paying the people that work for him because I want our children to grow up in a world of hating others, I want my daughters to be groped, I want rich people to be able to note pay their bills and taxes and and I want to live in a world of trash and pollution, because that is the type of person I am. And not only do I want all those things, I want to vote to force everyone else to have them too."

And not only do I want all those things, I want to vote to force everyone else to have them too."

So sound nerds, let me ask you this. Which would result in a a clearer sound with more impact when mic'ing two spaced sources like a pair of rack toms or a pair of saxophones? 1) a single mic 6" to 24" away equidistant from both sources or 2) using two mics with each very close to a source and Y'ing the two mics together… [ 314 more words ] http://ratsound.com/daveswordpress/2016/11/04/berlin/

I sure do love avoiding the tour bus. In fact I love everything about self navigating the world and just showing up for the rock show even if it complicates life. I used to jump in cars and stay at houses of people I just met trading show tickets for a ride to the next gig. I love navigating the unknown and to make getting to the next gig an adventure. It's that odd week where Europe has already switched to daylight savings and the US has not. The British Pound is on sale for a $1.22 and surprisingly millions of Americans think supporting Trump is a good idea yet not a single Trump supporter is worthy of being a role model.

Why is this so satisfying to watch? Seems so perfectly deserved and so unfortunately just a created illusion. Perhaps we will be fortunate enough to witness a similar outcome for Trump in the election. And we can watch mister 'hit them hard' melt down into a whine and cry tantrum. Yes, let's hit him hard and vote him out of the political game with authority.

Seven element political lens As this shit sling fest of the election ramps up to the final stretch and the majority of Americans have staked their claim for, against or just apathetic toward whatever candidate least offends them, I put some thought into the path leading us here. What makes someone a Democrat, Republican or neither? What is the fundamental belief structure that would inspire someone to lean one way or the other? Is it just cultural exposure or rebellion against one? What are the common threads that hold these seemingly disparate political parties together and apart? Lower taxes, de-regulating everything except freedom of the bedroom, guns for all, and razor thin definitions of what is truly an American versus endless social programs paid by heavy taxation supporting a nanny state saving an owl and off limits patches of land while letting babies perish. To unravel, simplify and understand more clearly I tried applying the same concepts I use in designing loudspeaker systems to the political parties and opinions. For sound system design my list is: Size Weight Max output Fidelity Aesthetics And cost How these factors are prioritized will define the final product and how well it performs for the desired applications. Each item somehow weighs against the rest in such a way as it is impossible to optimize all simultaneously. One must make sacrifices of one or more to realizes gains in others. For example, to make something loud it will get heavy, expensive and tend not to sound as good. To make it small sacrifices volume, cost, output and fidelity. Can political parties be defined purely by how they prioritize a simple list of priorities wherein each party strives for an optimization? How about the list: Shelter and Possessions Self Family Community Country Humanity Planet And now let's put those in the opposite order as well: Planet Humanity Country Community Family Self Shelter and possessions Now of course all the things listed have importance and we are constantly faced with devoting energy, finances and concerns to these and often need to make decisions about which is more important. If you put the health of the planet high on the list and feel that making a sacrifice for humanity as a whole is important even if it diminishes your personal and family life and possibly increases dangers to yourself, perhaps that is a tendency is toward Democrat. From what I can tell, if you put possessions, self and family first and minimize sacrifice for the betterment of humanity as a whole and are dismissive of pollution impacting the health of the planet, the tendency is toward Republican. Following these concepts further out to their extremes, putting planet first crushes potentially huge profits to save seemingly useless critters. Putting humanity first requires taxing sacrifices of time and money to try and reduce the endless poverty disease and hunger. Putting ones own self and family first and foremost with planet and humanity down list, may inspire one to give little and instead focus on acquiring as much as possible along with methods to defend the stockpile. And it seems that what we see from both sides of our two main political parties are accusations and fears. Fear of big government taxing away hard earned monet to spend elsewhere and outlawing the guns needed to defend against enemies abound. While the other side fears a plummet into a dog eat dog world of ruthlessness lacking compassion for the planet and humanity as a whole. There are people that put an extreme amount of importance on a few items and disregard the remainder. Someone willing to risk a life to save a tree, someone who is willing to poison a river to increase profits, or to take their own and lives of others to attempt to empower a religious belief they believe with benefit their community of like minded people. Not unlike how one can look at a speaker system and analyze the priorities used in the design, one can look at a person or political party and analyze the priorities by their votes and positions A rotation of the list can offer some insight into other political belief systems as well: Country Community Family Self Shelter and possessions Planet Humanity In this prioritization with county first and humanity last the tendency would be towards world domination at the expense of the environment and outside individuals. That order can be mixed in differing ways: Country Humanity Planet Shelter and possessions Community Family Self And you end up with more of a socialist angle with a country dedicated towards improving humanity as a whole, looking after the planet, perhaps focusing on non wasteful shelter and possessions It is by knowing one's own prioritization and using this or other list of priorities as a lens to view others that we are able to help guide wise decisions and understand others.
